A few months ago, perfume YouTuber Simply Ayesha created a Fragrance Tag video, and I knew I was going to join in the fun.
Rules: Provide one perfume for each of the questions below.
1. What is your “boss babe” scent?
Noir de Noir by Tom Ford: It's dark, mysterious and elegant; perfect for signing deals and collecting the bag. 💰
2. What is your go-to bedtime scent?
My Way by Armani: I find this sweet, but fresh, tuberose fragrance very calming, making it perfect for bed.
3. What is your “Hug in a Bottle” scent?
Vanilla Diorama by Christian Dior: This is just so cozy! It's a sweet and unsual vanilla, that is very thick. The perfect hug.
4. What is your secret weapon of mass seduction?
Scandal by Night by Jean Paul Gaultier: Personally, I find this to be just a very sweet vanilla-floral fragrance, but to men?! Hun-nnyyy they LOVE this! Once I heard the rumours online of being bent like a pretzel while wearing this 😈, I had to run a focus group myself and let me tell you, every single one of the 8 men I asked, found this perfume incredibly sexy! One even said that they'd skip going out to dinner and go straight to "dessert", if their woman wore this. This perfume immidiately got promoted! 😂
5. What is a fragrance you never wear, but can’t part with?
Fucking Fabulous by Tom Ford: This is a unisex perfume that leans masculine to me, due to the heavy dose of leather in it. I think this is so dark and sexy smelling, but I rarely find an occassion or outfit that compliments this scent.
6. What is one of your favourite fragrances that you don’t wear enough?
Alexandria II by Xerjoff: I don't believe in only wearing perfumes for special occasions, but this is the one exception to the rule. With it's masterful blend of vanilla, amber, spices and oud, this is my favourite perfume of all time, yet I only wear it when I really want to show out. I don't know if that will change, or if I want it to.
7. What is a fragrance you would recommend for a beginner that wants to smell unique?
Sunshine Woman by Amouage: A creamy, fruity, happy scent that is very unique in composition, but easy to love - perfect for beginners.
8. What is a fragrance that you love, that everyone else seems to hate?
Chance Eau de Parfum by Chanel: I was surprised to discover that so many people hate this perfume - I love it! It's a simple, clean, yet chic floral fragrance that reminds me of an afternoon in Paris.
P.S. I detest all its flankers.
9. What is an overhyped fragrance that you currently own?
Pas Ce Soir by BDK: I tried this on skin in Dubai, and it smelled great to me, so I bought a full bottle a few months later. I have since tried it multiple times, in multiple climates and, although it's a lovely fruity scent, I just don't get the hype and don't like it enough to keep it. The bottle is on its way out.
10. What fragrance is on the chopping block?
XO Brandy by Navitus: I like this sweet, brandy and almond fragrance, but I know someone who will love it more than I like it, so I'll be gifting this to them.
11. What is the last fragrance that you purchased?
Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle: This is a blind buy and I haven't received it yet, but I love musk, so fingers crossed!
12. What fragrance is at the top of your wishlist?
Guidance 46 by Amouage: The original Guidance is my number 2 favourite fragrance of all time, so when I heard there was an extrait version being released (limited edition?), I knew I'd be getting it. The price tag is ridiculously hefty and make my eyes water ($520/£425), but I've accepted that I won't fight it, and just hand over my card. 🥲
13. What is your One Fragrance For Life?
Guidance by Amouage: This perfume is a 10/10 for me on all counts - smell, longevity, projection, presentation, wearability - it's just perfect! Althought I love Alexandria II slightly more, I could wear Guidance for all occasions and seasons, so if I could only have 1, this would be it.
These are my answers today, but every perfume lover knows that they can change. 😂
