Prior to life winding down as a result of the panoramic, YouTube was my go to for make-up reviews and aided in the acquisition of my, now robust, make-up collection. Since the pandanemic forced all the stores to close and/or stop the sampling of products, YouTubers have been by go-to for blind buys.
Below, in no particular order, is a list of my current top 10 YuouTubers for honest, thorough and entertaining reviews. Make sure you like, comment and subscribe! 🤪
1. Jackie Aina
To be honest, if you are black and into beauty but don't know who Jackie Aina is, I don't know how to help you despite you needing help. Where would my make-up journey be without Jackie? Whenever you see my face is beat to the gawds, just know, Jackie taught me! In addition to her tutorials, we tend to like the same cosmetic products in spite of our difference in skin types and tones, so she's definitely a good reference for me. 😄
2. Mila Le Blanc
We don't have the exact same taste in fragrances but if she hates it, I will too! LOL! Her fragrance collection is huge and she's brutally honest, so what's there not to like? 😜 #NotRudeHonest
3. SheRea DelSol
I started watching YouTube content creators when I went natural and needed to know what to do with my hair. Although I've now expanded my use of the platform, I still rely on natural hair YouTubers for product reviews and hair tips. SheRea DelSol is a product junkie just like me so I can trust her to own the product and give an honest review. 😎
4. Dr. Vanita Rattan
Doctor V. is a doctor and cosmetic formulator, who's YouTube channel is dedicated to skincare for people of colour. Her videos are very informative and her ability to break down ingredients and brand formulations, makes her a great resource when purchasing skincare products. 😌
5. Dimma Umeh
Dimma is another YouTuber that has helped me greatly on my make-up journey, but that is not why I follow her. There is something so calming, yet straightforward, about Dimma's presence (through the screen) and voice, that I really enjoy. She just seems lovely, and I like her. 😊
6. Marques Brownlee
I'm not big on tech at all, but if I need to know anything about how my latest device works, or how to maximise its use, Marques is my guy. He explains and demonstrates features in such a simple way that any beginner could follow with ease. Plus, he's easy on the eyes. 😉
7. Beauty Within
Rowena and Felicia's channel is dedicated to skincare and although we do not have the same skin types, I find their informative videos and insightful reviews very useful when working on my own skincare regimen. Their "girly" aesthetic doesn't hurt either. ☺️
8. Nella Rose
I discovered Nella while social media was trying to maliciously cancel her and let me tell you, this girl is FUNNY! I don't really care for her reviews for purchase decisions but, they are hilarious and she is definitely entertaining so, I'm a proud subscriber. 😁
9. Improvement Pill
I'm a big believer in self-development and the Improvement Pill definitely feeds into that. This animated channel is geared towards helping you to become your best self on any level, and I really enjoy watching and learning. You could say, it helps you to review your life lol. 🤓
10. Green Beauty
This channel has saved my hair from crazy natural hair fads by breaking down the science behind each trend and helping me to make smart decisions. She covers everything from hair type to regimens and products, all backed by science that is easy to follow. Although she hasn't covered it yet, what I've learned (and common sense!) is the reason I didn't join you lot in believing that water alone is good enough to sustain my natural hair. 🙃
Some of the channels I mentioned are mega channels (1M+ subscribers) while others aren't, but they all offer the same high quality, good content that makes viewing them enjoyable.
There are so many more YouTube channels I love but this post would be endless if I named them all. What are your favourite YouTube channels? Comment them below, so I can check them out. 😃
